Grants of $25,000 offered in small business pitch contest
Entrepreneurs have the chance to win five grants of up to $25,000 each in the Wave of Opportunity Pitch Competition.
The Global Atlantic Re Foundation, in partnership with the Bermuda Economic Development Corporation, is offering $125,000 in annual capital grants to support the growth of small businesses in Bermuda.
Grants will be awarded through a pitch competition held during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November, when entrepreneurs will pitch their ideas to a panel of judges, the BEDC said in a statement.
Approved applicants advance through preliminary rounds to identify top contenders. Finalists pitch their business in a five-minute presentation followed by a Q&A with judges — and receive hands-on training at a Pitch Bootcamp before the finals.
Awards will go to three local industry innovators from any industry. The judges will be looking for local and global impact. Education and mental health entrepreneurs are encouraged to apply.
One grant will also go a young entrepreneur, aged 16 to 25. And there will also be a People’s Choice award to the business person selected on competition night.
Bermudian-based businesses, registered with the BEDC or willing to enrol in a relevant programme, with a clear benefit to the Bermuda market and not receiving more than $5,000 from another private entity will be eligible to apply.
The submission deadline is July 17, 2026 and the preliminary rounds will take place on September 3 and 4, with the pitch competition on November 16.
