Woman, 88, in intensive care after crash

An 88-year-old woman was in intensive care in hospital yesterday after her car was involved in a collision with two other vehicles.

Police said the woman was thought to have suffered a medical problem before the crash.

A spokesman said the crash happened as the woman was driving west on Middle Road, Warwick, near the junction with Riddell’s Bay Road.

Her car was in collision with another car and a van being driven in the opposite direction.

The crash happened at 9am on Tuesday.

The woman, from Southampton, was taken by ambulance to the King Edward VII Memorial Hospital, where she was listed as “stable” yesterday.

The 55-year-old Sandys man driving the van was also taken to hospital, and was treated and discharged.

The male driver and two passengers of the other car involved were uninjured, although all three vehicles were damaged.

Police have appealed for witnesses.
