Three hurt in Devonshire crash

Three people were injured after two motorcycles collided at a Devonshire roundabout.

A 68-year-old woman, who was riding one of the bikes, was unconscious after the crash at the junction of Barkers Hill and North Shore Road on Friday, at about 1pm. She woke up shortly afterwards, but complained of severe pain to her right side.

A pillion passenger on the other bike suffered a suspected broken leg while the rider received facial injuries and cuts to his hands.

All three were taken to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital for treatment.

A police spokesman said the crash happened while the woman was travelling east along North Shore Road and made a right turn on to the roundabout.

She collided with the bike, which was going the wrong way around the roundabout, after coming down Commissioner's Hill.
