Brothers jailed for public fighting

Two brothers from Somerset were yesterday jailed after a disturbance broke out at a Devonshire nightclub last year.Keino, 20, and Kevin Lambert, 21, appeared in Magistrates’ Court after the fracas near the Gravity Nightclub on North Shore Road, Devonshire on December 18.Officers arrived to find the fight spilling out into the road.A police spokesman previously said: “The crowd was hostile and were pulling the suspects away from police, who had to muscle their way through.”A Taser and captor spray were used to restrain the suspects. The brothers were arrested along with a woman who was later released.Both men appeared in Magistrates’ Court, before Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner, on December 20.Kevin denied a charge of violently resisting arrest, while his brother, Keino, denied violently resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.Both were charged with affray after allegedly fighting each other, however the prosecutor offered no evidence.The two were bailed for $1,000 with one surety each and appeared for trial yesterday morning.Mr Warner found Keino guilty of violently resisting arrest and assaulting police and sentenced him to spend ten and 30 days in jail, to be served concurrently.His older brother Kevin was found guilty of violently resisting arrest and sentenced to ten days’ imprisonment.
