A man accused of a sex attack on a five-year-old girl changed his shirt twice on the day of the incident, according to his next door neighbour. The man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was said by the victim to be wearing a plain green shirt when he sexually assaulted her while she was playing outside her home. The accused man was a client of the Mid-Atlantic Wellness Institute {MAWI} and is on trial at Supreme Court accused of attacking the youngster.Neither he, nor the child, can be identified for legal reasons.Yesterday, another MAWI client, who lives next door to the accused man, gave evidence in the case.He described seeing the defendant on the morning in question last July, wearing a green basketball-style shirt. He told the jury he saw the man later that morning wearing a white shirt. Later in the day, after the time of the alleged incident, he said he saw him wearing a black shirt. The witness said he could not be sure of timings because he does not wear a watch. He went on to describe seeing a “frantic man” in the neighbourhood where the incident happened, also wearing a green shirt. He thought the man was a plain-clothes police officer at first but later realised was the victim’s father.According to defence lawyer Ken Savoury, the accused man is 5ft 5ins. According to the victim, the stranger who attacked her was “tall like my Daddy”.According to the witness who gave evidence yesterday, the victim’s father looked to be 5ft 10in or 5ft 11in.The accused man denies two charges of sexual exploitation and the case continues.
