Man charged with murder of Ida James

A 53-year-old man has been charged in Magistrates’ Court with the murder of social worker Ida James.

Norris Albert Simpson, of St John’s Road, Pembroke, was not required to enter a plea, as his case must be dealt with by the Supreme Court.

He is accused of murdering Ms James on or about September 1.

The 66-year-old pensioner was found dead at her home on Berry Hill Road, Paget, last Friday morning.

A former nurse, she was also a long-standing employee of the Department of Child and Family Services.

Mr Simpson, who is represented by lawyer Elizabeth Christopher, was remanded into police custody by Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner. He will return to court on September 20.
