Man fined for altercation with woman outside hotel

A 20-year-old Southampton man was fined in Magistrates’ Court after getting into a fight with a woman outside the Fairmont Southampton hotel.

Delbert Doars apologised to the court, telling Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner: “I did not hit the lady; I just pushed her back.”

Crown counsel Kirsty-Ann Kiellor said that at 3am on September 17, police on duty found Doars and a woman swinging punches at one another in the hotel car park.

The court heard that Doars continued to behave aggressively after police intervened, shouting: “I’m going to get you, b***h.”

Doars told Mr Warner he had been talking to the woman, whom he had met that night, when she pushed him in the face.

Mr Warner ordered him to pay $400.
