Women face ATM fraud charges

Two women yesterday appeared in Magistrates’ Court after allegedly claiming small ATM deposits as significantly higher amounts.Lisa Pacheco, of Spring Hill, Warwick and 59-year-old Sonja Gordon of Cottage Hill, Hamilton Parish were jointly charged with three counts of false accounting and one count of conspiring to defraud Butterfield Bank.In one instance the women are alleged to have deposited a sales receipt from The People’s Pharmacy in an ATM, entering it as $8,000 cash.Ms Pacheco, 30, faces another four charges of false accounting; both she and Ms Gordon face separate charges of stealing from Butterfield Bank.The bulk of the fraudulent accounting charges revolve around allegations the women deposited one amount of cash in an ATM but claimed to have deposited a higher amount.They denied all charges.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released both women on $5,000 bail each, with a like surety.A trial was set for January 13.Ms Pacheco received an additional bail of $10,000 with a like surety, relating to further charges.She was given a trial date of February 3 for that matter.
