Heroin was found inside man’s hat

A 60-year-old Smith’s man was fined after he was caught with heroin concealed under his hat.

Wendell Santucci, of Hillsdale, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to the August 19 offence.

The court heard that Santucci was apprehended by police at 10am that day, after suspicious activity in a parked car was reported.

Santucci was found with another man in a vehicle parked alongside Parsons Road.

Police searched Santucci at Hamilton Police Station and found a packet of brown powder inside his hat. It was found to be 0.05 grams of heroin.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner fined Santucci $1,000, with one month to pay.
