Warwick man denies four charges relating to a supermarket manager

A 48-year-old Warwick man has appeared in Magistrates’ Court on charges of threatening and assaulting a supermarket manager.Buford Smith, of Lusher Lane, denied a December 19 charge of carrying a wooden cane as an offensive weapon, and using threatening behaviour to Vernon Hassell, general manager of the MarketPlace on Church Street, Hamilton.Mr Smith also denied assaulting Mr Hassell and telling him “I’m going to f***ing beat you”, on November 16.Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner granted him bail of $2,000, adjourning the matter until February 10.
