Machete attack trial adjourned, jury dismissed

The Supreme Court trial of a man accused of a machete attack was set back yesterday and the jury dismissed.Gregory Tucker, 42, from Happy Valley, Pembroke, still stands accused of causing grievous bodily harm to Kevin DeRosa with intent to do so and possessing a bladed article, a machete, in a public place.He has pleaded not guilty to both charges related to the incident, which took place on March 3.The trial began on Wednesday with Prosecutor Maria Sofianos making her opening statement. The trial was expected to continue Friday morning, but Justice Juan Wolffe dismissed the jury and adjourned the matter.Mr Tucker was released on bail until September 4, when the matter is set to return to Supreme Court to be mentioned.
