Murder trial’s start delayed until Monday

The trial of two men accused of shooting father-of-one Randy Robinson dead is due to open at Supreme Court on Monday.

Jay Dill, 23, and Devon Hewey, 24, are accused of the premeditated murder of Mr Robinson and using a firearm to commit the crime.

Mr Robinson, 22, was killed on Border Lane North, Devonshire, on March 31, 2011.

The defendants appeared at Supreme Court earlier this week, where they denied the charges, and a jury of seven men and five women was selected to hear the case.

Prosecutor Maria Sofianos indicated that up to 60 witnesses could be called in the case.

Although the trial was due to open yesterday, it was postponed until Monday following discussions between the lawyers involved.

The defendants are in custody.
