Man denies trying to get woman to become prostitute

A 40-year-old man has been charged with attempting to get a woman to become a prostitute.

St George’s resident MacDonald DeSilva was accused in Magistrates’ Court of sending a “grossly offensive” message using a cell phone, between December 2012 and February 2013.

He was further accused of attempting to “procure” a woman to become a common prostitute on a date between January 20, 2013 and February 4, 2013.

He denied both charges.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner set a trial date of August 15 and released Mr DeSilva on $2,000 bail with one surety.
