A man has been charged with four counts of touching a child for sexual purposes.

The 39-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was not required to enter a plea when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court as the matter must be dealt with in the Supreme Court.

The charges are alleged to have occurred between August 1 and September 30.

The court heard the victim was eight years old at the time. The accused was on bail charged with a similar offence against a 13-year-old girl.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner denied bail, remanding the accused until his next court appearance on November 18.
