Man on $200k drugs charge

A Bermudian man residing in Canada has been accused of importing more than 9lbs of cannabis into Bermuda on Tuesday.

Owen Simons, 43, appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday facing charges of importation and possession of the drugs valued at more than $200,000.

Mr Simons was not required to enter a plea as the charges are indictable.

Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner released Mr Simons on $30,000 bail with one surety, ordering him to surrender all travel documents and report to the Hamilton Police Station every Monday.

He will next appear for mention on July 18.
