A teenager has admitted having sexual relations with a 14-year-old girl.

During an appearance in the Supreme Court, the defendant pleaded guilty to a single count of having unlawful carnal knowledge with a girl who was between the age of 14 and 16.

The incident occurred on January 29 this year, at which time he was 17 years old.

The victim cannot be identified for legal reasons. The Royal Gazette has elected not to name the defendant at this stage as legal matters are still ongoing, however he will be identified once those matters have been settled.

The defendant was released on bail, on the condition that he avoid any contact with the victim or her family.
