A Pembroke man was fined $300 in Magistrates’ Court this morning for possessing cannabis.

Tony Fox, 62, who had previously pleaded not guilty to the offence, admitted possessing 150mg of the controlled drug on July 6.

The court heard that Fox was riding his motorcycle on Curving Avenue, Pembroke, when he sped up after he saw uniformed Police officers sitting in an unmarked car.

He was subsequently stopped and Police officers saw him throw a clear plastic bag into the bushes.

The bag was retrieved and, upon analysis, was shown to contain 150mg of plant material. Fox, who has previous convictions for similar offences, was given a $300 fine by Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo.
