Costa Ricans held in custody to face trial

A Costa Rican couple have been remanded in custody over charges under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Denia Rojas and Carlos Jimenez are accused of possessing a little more than $142,000, which was the proceeds of crime.

Ms Rojas, 29, and Mr Jimenez, 27, were arrested on December 28 in Bermuda.

They first appeared at Magistrates’ Court on December 31 to face the charges.

The couple then reappeared at court today and were remanded in custody until January 28.

They have not entered pleas to the charges as the offences can be dealt with only in the Supreme Court.
