Devonshire man, 23, accused of bank robbery

A 23-year-old Devonshire man was charged in connection with a St George’s bank robbery when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

Gregory Armando Tucker is accused of using an imitation firearm while committing the indictable offence of robbery on June 6.

He was also charged with robbing teller Nigel Turuni of cash on the same date.

Mr Tucker was not required to enter a plea because the charges must be put to him again in Supreme Court.

Deputy Director of Public Prosecutions Cindy Clarke said that the charges relate to the robbery of tellers at the Bank of Butterfield branch in St George’s. Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo remanded Mr Tucker into custody and adjourned the matter to July 27 for mention.
