Devonshire man denies robbery charge
A Devonshire man accused of robbery pleaded not guilty when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
Traycton Mallory, 28, allegedly used force to rob Shadir Furqan of $50 cash in Devonshire on July 2.
But Mallory admitted assaulting a police officer, escaping lawful custody and using offensive words in a separate incident at Henry VIII Pantry in Southampton on July 9.
Mallory elected to be tried in Magistrates’ Court on the robbery charge and a trial date was set for September 28; no separate sentencing date was set.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted $5,000 bail on the condition that Mallory have no contact with the victim.
