Man denies sexual assault on tourist

A hotel worker has denied sexually assaulting a female tourist.

The 30-year-old man allegedly committed the offence in Smith’s on Tuesday.

Prosecutor Kenlyn Swan told Magistrates’ Court this morning that the complainant was a tourist to Bermuda.

Neither the defendant nor the complainant can be named for legal reasons.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo granted the man $5,000 bail with a like surety on the condition that he surrender his travel documents and have no contact with the complainant.

The defendant elected to be tried in Magistrates’ Court and a trial date was set for December 17.
