Senior admits stealing steak

Court reports were ordered for a Southampton senior after he admitted stealing from the Heron Bay MarketPlace.

Oliver Caisey, 72, pleaded guilty to stealing a steak and a bottle of olive oil, worth a total of $29.23, from the store on Saturday.

The court heard that Caisey was spotted on CCTV cameras taking the steak and placing it in a helmet before covering it with a jacket.

Staff at the store waited until Caisey went to leave after paying for other items and stopped him, asking to see the contents of his helmet. In addition to the steak, they found a bottle of olive oil.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered that pre-sentencing reports be carried out on Caisey, releasing him on $1,000 bail until April 18 when the matter is set to return to the courts.
