Not guilty plea over false statement charge

A Southampton man has denied trying to procure a woman to make a false statement to the police.

Appearing in Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday, Dawson Dates pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged the offence took place on February 22 last year.

The 52-year-old elected to be tried in Magistrates’ Court and the matter was adjourned to April 19 for mention.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe set bail at $2,000.
