Man denies making machete threat

A St George’s man has denied carrying a machete along Water Street on Friday and threatening another man’s life.

John Dacosta, 58, is alleged to have told Gerald Dillas: “(I) am gonna chop you. I hate you and I wanted to kill you a long time ago. I been trying to find a way to kill you.”

After the defendant pleaded not guilty this morning, Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo set a trial date for July 12.

Mr Tokunbo released Dacosta on $3,000 bail and ordered him to have no contact with Mr Dillas until then.
