Driver charged with causing man’s death
A Smith's man has been charged with causing the death of 21-year-old Ezariah “Ezra” Matthie.
George Simmons, 43, is accused of causing Mr Matthie's death on the afternoon of February 29 this year by driving without due care and attention on Ord Road in Paget.
He was not required to enter a plea as the matter must be heard by the Supreme Court.
Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo released Mr Simmons on $10,000 bail until his appearance at Supreme Court in October.
Mr Matthie was riding on a motorcycle when there was a collission between his vehicle and a truck.
It was the second road fatality of the year.
