Man charged over police standoff
A 68-year-old man pleaded not guilty this morning to three offences in connection with a police standoff earlier this week.
James Dallas, of no fixed address, denied trespassing with intent to do unlawful damage, using threatening words to a police officer and behaving in a threatening manner.
The charges stem from a three-hour standoff at the former prison services headquarters on Happy Valley Road on Wednesday morning.
Mr Dallas consented to having the matter tried in Magistrates' Court. He was granted bail in the amount of $1,000 by Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo with the condition that he not attend the former prison services headquarters unless accompanied by police.
The case will be mentioned on December 1.
