Samuels pleads guilty to cannabis possession

A Pembroke man was fined $1,000 yesterday after a police sniffer dog detected cannabis in his motorbike.

Magistrates’ Court heard that a police dog, trained in drug detection, picked up a scent on a bike driven by Jahmel Samuels in the area of police headquarters in Prospect last September.

The vehicle was impounded by police and Samuels was notified.

Samuels told police: “I have some weed in my bag. I smoke.”

A search of the bike found 4.88 grams of the drug.

Samuels, 40, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis.
