Sandys teen fined $800 after crash

A Sandys teenager was today fined $800 in connection with a collision in Southampton last summer.

Jair Phillips, 18, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention in Magistrates’ Court this morning. It stemmed from a crash on Middle Road.

Court heard that Phillips’s motorcycle collided with the rear of a car that had pulled out onto the road at about 7.45am on June 30.

Phillips had overtaken several vehicles before striking the car.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Phillips $800. He was also given ten demerit points.
