Devonshire man charged with four sex offences

A 57-year-old man was charged yesterday with a string of sexual offences against an underage girl over a period of seven years.

The Devonshire man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was charged with four counts of sexually touching a young girl while in a position of trust.

The defendant also denied having unlawful carnal knowledge of the same complainant when she was under the age of 14. The incidents were said to have taken place on unknown dates between November 2008 and September 2015.

The man was not required to enter a plea because the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.

The defendant was released on $10,000 bail and ordered to avoid contact with the alleged victim. He is expected to appear before the Supreme Court in December.
