Sandys man denies sexually assaulting woman

A 22-year-old woman told a court that a 61-year-old man made lewd comments about her body and grabbed her buttocks.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons alleged that the defendant made “uncomfortable” comments about her breasts when he visited her home two years ago, Magistrates' Court heard yesterday.

She added: “After I had gotten dressed for work, I was standing by the window.

“I was wearing a skirt and you could see the silhouette of my body.

“He said ‘I can see your a**' — or maybe ‘butt' — ‘through your skirt' and he went and grabbed my butt.”

The alleged victim was speaking at the trial of the man, from Sandys, who also cannot be identified. He denied allegations that he intruded on the privacy of the woman and sexually assaulted her.

The offences are alleged to have happened on August 22, 2018 in St George's.

The defendant at first faced two intrusion charges, but the prosecution yesterday dropped one of them.

Elizabeth Christopher, for the defence, said that the complainant did not indicate that the alleged comments made her feel “alarmed, insulted or offended” — a needed qualification for an intrusion charge.

She added that the remaining intrusion charge should also be dismissed because the prosecution's case did not support a guilty verdict.

Magistrate Craig Attridge adjourned the case until March 30.
