A woman today admitted stealing more than $1,000 from her employer over a three-month period.Kellee Burgess, 32, pleaded guilty to stealing $1,286 in cash from the Complete Care Clinic on Dundonald Street, Hamilton, between March 17 and June 26 last year.The court heard Burgess, from Sandys, was the only employee at the healthcare business and that part of her job was to collect payments from patients.Maria Sofianos, the Crown counsel, said Burgess collected cash payments from customers and kept them a total of 20 times.She said: “Those 20 payments were made by clients in cash at the front desk of the clinic and she issued receipts that she signed.“The clinic deposits show the cash was never placed in the envelope for deposit.”Burgess was later arrested and admitted that she had pocketed some cash when she was in a “tight spot”, but that she had paid back money when she could.The court heard the mother of three was very remorseful and wanted to make restitution to her former employer.Magistrate Maxanne Anderson adjourned the case for six weeks for a social inquiry report. • It is The Royal Gazette’s policy not to allow comments on stories regarding court cases.
