Breath test refusal costs woman $1000 and a ban

A 33-year-old woman has been banned from the roads for 18 months and fined $1000 after she pleaded guilty to refusal to take a breath test.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Whitney Francis-Burrows, from Smith’s, was stopped by police at 11.41pm on September 6 after she was spotted driving through a stop light at the corner of Court and Front Streets in Hamilton.

The court heard on Monday that she was asked to get out of the car and police officers noticed that she was unsteady on her feet and was leaning on the car.

Francis-Burrows admitted drinking, but refused when police asked her to take a breath test.
