Man charged with sex assault on woman

A man was yesterday charged with a serious sex assault on a woman on her way to work.

The 38-year-old man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared at a virtual Magistrates’ Court hearing charged with the incident.

He was not required to enter a plea as the case must be heard in the Supreme Court.

The incident is alleged to have happened on September 20 last year at the junction of Fairylands Road and Pitts Bay Road in Pembroke.

The defendant, from Sandys, was released on $5,000 bail and the case was adjourned until June 1.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered the man to visit Hamilton Police Station twice a week and have no contact with the alleged victim, who also cannot be named for legal reasons.
