A former lawyer was yesterday accused of stealing more than $400,000 worth of credit balances.

Tyrone Quinn, 35, was charged with the theft of $96,000 in credit balances belonging to Jeanna Riley between August 3 last year and February 11.

He was also charged with the theft of $87,000 worth of credit balances from Jacqueline Trott between February 1 and February 15.

Mr Quinn was further charged with stealing $300,000 in credit balances from Larry Brangman between May 14 last year and February 28.

He did not enter a plea as the case must be heard in front of the Supreme Court.

Magistrate Maxanne Anderson released Mr Quinn, from Devonshire, on $30,000 bail and adjourned the case until the next Supreme Court arraignments session on September 1.

She ordered him to have no contact with the alleged victims, to visit the Hamilton Police Station three times a week and to surrender his passport.
