Driver had beer and shots before causing collision

A driver who collided with several cars was banned from the roads yesterday after she admitted drink-driving.

Magistrates’ Court heard that Kaylah John, 25, ignored a stop sign at the intersection of Burnaby Street and Reid Street in Hamilton, which caused another vehicle to collide with her car.

The force of the impact pushed John’s car into three parked vehicles.

Police attended the scene and questioned John, from Hamilton Parish, who admitted she had had “two Coronas and two shots” before the accident.

The amount of alcohol in her blood at the time was not revealed in court.

The incident happened on June 6.

Senior magistrate Juan Wolffe fined her $1,000 and banned her from the roads for 18 months.
