Rider clocked at 99km/h fined and given points — but no ban

A man was fined $500 yesterday but escaped a ban after he was caught riding his motorcycle at almost three times the speed limit.

O’Dell Grant, 36, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to driving at 99km/h.

The incident happened on August 17 last year on Mangrove Bay Road in Sandys.

The speed limit is 35km/h.

Grant, from Warwick, told the court: “I don’t have an excuse”.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo added seven points to Grant’s licence in addition to the fine.
