Police officer admits threats to wife and damaging her car

A police officer admitted yesterday that he threatened his wife and caused more than $1,000 worth of damage to her car.

Sean Kelly, 40, pleaded guilty to using threatening words and causing $1,225 of damage to Rebekah Kelly’s car on October 9, 2019 in Pembroke.

Kelly also admitted using threatening words against Victor Fishington on December 29, 2019 in Warwick.

Details of the offences were not read out in court.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo ordered a social inquiry report on Kelly and adjourned the case until May 20.

The court heard that Kelly was a police constable at the time of the offences, but was suspended because of the charges.

A police spokesman said last night: “The Bermuda Police Service has received notification of the guilty plea that we will consider and determine next steps accordingly.”
