Drink driver found sleeping after hitting wall

A man was banned from the roads for 18 months after he admitted drink driving.

Magistrates’ Court heard that police were called to Middle Road in Devonshire after a car was found parked horizontally in the middle of the road.

Officers saw that the car had hit a boundary wall in the area and found Claudio Da Silva Lima, 33, asleep at the wheel.

Police woke Da Silva Lima and asked him what happened, and he said: “I’ve had too much to drink.”

Da Silva Lima was arrested on suspicion of drink driving.

The incident happened on April 2.

Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo fined Da Silva Lima, from Pembroke, $1,000 in addition to the road ban and ordered him to pay by June 3.
