Taxi driver, 84, fined for driving without proper consideration

Magistrates' Court

An 84-year-old taxi driver who almost hit a motorbike after overtaking a rental car was seen by police travelling behind him, a court was told.

Vincent Minors, from Devonshire, was fined $800 after he pleaded guilty to driving without proper consideration when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court today.

Police were travelling behind Minors, who was driving a taxi on Kindley Field Road on December 30 last year, the court heard.

Minors tried to overtake a rental car but almost struck a motorbike heading in the opposite direction and the police stopped him.

He apologised to the court and said that he did not think the motorcyclist would be going so fast.
