Man fined after admitting drinking before getting on bike

A man who hit a fence while riding his bike has been banned from the roads for 18 months.

Raymont Francis, 50, from Hamilton Parish, pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court to driving under the influence of alcohol.

The court heard that in August last year, police responded to the crash on Trinity Church Road and saw Francis next to the damaged bike.

Francis, who sustained a head wound from the incident, admitted to drinking before getting on his bike and was taken to Hamilton Police Station as a result.

In addition to the ban, Francis was fined $1,200.
