Roads ban for car driver who hit motorcycle

A driver whose car hit a motorcycle has been banned from driving all vehicles for one year.

Michael Doucet, 41, from St George’s, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and attention when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that Doucet hit the motorcycle when he pulled out of the Island Cuisine parking lot in Southampton on January 23.

The collision left the victim, who was not named in court, with sprained toes.

Doucet apologised to the court but said that he did not see the bike coming when he pulled out.

In addition to the ban, Doucet was fined $1,000.
