Road ban for drink driver who crashed car

Magistrates' Court

A driver who crashed a car in Paget has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Kamal Trott, 44, from Pembroke, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that police attended the crash scene last June near The Lane, and noticed Trott talking on his phone and an uninjured passenger in the car.

Trott told officers that the crash happened when he looked away from the road for a few seconds to talk to the passenger.

He admitted to having “a few drinks” before driving, but denied being intoxicated.

In addition to the ban, Trott was fined $1,500.
