Three-year ban for repeat offender who refused to take breath test

A man who crashed his bike in Paget has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for three years.

Andrew Spencer-Arscott, 31, from Paget, admitted to not giving police a breath sample when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court last week.

The court heard that in December 2021, officers attended the crash and saw Spencer-Arscott comforting a woman who had been injured.

Police saw that Spencer-Arscott’s eyes were red, smelt alcohol on his breath and took him to Hamilton Police Station, where he refused to take a breath test.

In addition to the ban, Spencer-Arscott, who has two similar convictions, was fined $2,500.
