Driving ban and fine for man who refused breath test

A man who was involved in a three-vehicle collision in Hamilton Parish has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

John Lake, 33, from Southampton, pleaded guilty to not taking a breath test after the accident when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court yesterday.

The court heard that officers attended the accident involving a bike, van and car on North Shore Road last August.

Lake, who drove the car, admitted to having a “few drinks” before driving, but refused to give officers a sample of his breath both at the scene and at Hamilton Police Station.

In addition to being banned, Lake was fined $1,500.
