Man, 64, charged with sex offences against young girls

A St George’s man has been charged in Magistrates’ Court with sexual offences against two girls.

The 64-year-old was charged with having unlawful carnal knowledge of and inappropriately touching one girl while in a position of trust when he appeared in court yesterday.

He was also charged with communicating with the same girl, who was under the age of 14, with the intent to commit sexual exploitation and intruding on another girl’s privacy.

All incidents allegedly occurred between October 2021 and September 2022.

Since the charges must be heard in the Supreme Court, the man, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, was not required to enter a plea during yesterday’s appearance.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson sent the case to the Supreme Court, where it will be mentioned during the August arraignment session, and released the man on $20,000 bail with a like surety.

The man was also ordered not to contact the alleged victims or spend any time alone with minors.
