Conditional discharge for man caught with ten grams of cannabis

Police discovered more than ten grams of cannabis during a vehicle search, a court heard this week.

Shaz Gibson, 19, from Southampton, admitted having the drug when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that officers found the substance underneath Gibson’s car seat when they searched his vehicle in Southampton last October.

One seized bag contained 8.32 grams of the drug — slightly more than the decriminalised limit of seven grams — and the other had 3.85 grams.

Apologising to the court, Gibson assured senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson that it would never happen again.

Ms Anderson sentenced Gibson to a 12-month conditional discharge and warned him to stay out of trouble during that time.
