Man fined $1,200 and banned from roads after hitting wall

A motorist who struck a wall in Devonshire has been disqualified from driving all vehicles for 18 months.

Jay Woolridge, 37, admitted to driving under the influence of alcohol when he appeared in Magistrates’ Court.

The court heard that Woolridge, from Smith’s, crashed his bike into the wall after overtaking a car on North Shore Road on February 19.

Police, who were following Woolridge when the crash occurred, took him to the Hamilton Police Station after he was examined by medical personnel.

In addition to the ban, Woolridge was fined $1,200.
