A drink-driver who crashed his bike into a wall in Smith’s has been banned from the road for 18 months.

Kendall Thompson, 57, admitted riding his bike while impaired by alcohol when he appeared in Magistrate’s Court yesterday.

The court heard that on October 29, Thompson, from Smith’s, parked his bike in a driveway on Store Hill after hitting a wall along the same stretch.

When questioned by police in the area, Thompson admitted drinking before getting behind the wheel and was then taken to Hamilton Police Station.

In addition to being banned, Thompson was fined $1,500.
