Man steals $15 from woman

A man who stole $15 from a woman in Washington Mall will be sentenced in Magistrates’ Court next month.

Shannon Looby, 52, admitted the theft when he appeared in court.

The court heard that Looby, from Pembroke, asked customers at Delicious restaurant for money on January 13 before staff asked him to leave the premises.

He returned to the business a short time later, took the money from the counter and ran off.

The woman chased Looby, who was then stopped by an unknown man and returned the money.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered mental health and drug use reports be written for Looby, who has similar previous convictions. She adjourned the case to February 26 for sentencing.

Looby was released on $2,000 bail until that time and ordered not to frequent Delicious restaurant or Washington Mall.
