Man admits harming and threatening child

A man who placed a child in a choke hold will be sentenced in Magistrates’ Court next month.

Edmund Simons, 71, admitted causing the boy bodily harm and threatening him when he appeared in court yesterday.

The court heard that Simons, from Sandys, placed his hands around the boy’s neck and threatened to “take him out” on August 29.

The incident was reported to police, who charged Simons with the offences on September 8.

Senior magistrate Maxanne Anderson ordered reports to be written for Simons and adjourned the case to May 2 for sentencing. He was released on $5,000 bail until that time.
